I've decided to do the May photo a day challenge. I didn't do it in April + I sort of missed it. I think it was good to take a break for a while though. Are you going to participate?
Watching: Girls, 2 Broke Girls and New Girl. Haha. Along with all the other series that I watch. I'm pretty sure I watch too much t.v. and I'm pretty sure I'd get more stuff done if I didn't. Oh well. I love it.
Working on: Photos. I take so many pictures + they just pile up on my computer + my phone. I'd hate to lose them, so I need to start backing them up once a month. I'm also trying to printthem out once a month. I'd hate to see them all disappear in the future. I mean are we going to pull out our computers when our grand kidswant to see our pictures or are we still going to pull out actual printed photos? It's an interesting thing to think about. I also just now got around to making a honeymoon album. I'd like to make some more for the trips that Zac + I have been on. It's been so fun looking at old pictures + reliving the moments. They were GREAT!!!
Thinking about: Running. Every now + then I get this urge to start running. It usually goes away once I actually start, haha. I'd settle for bike riding :)
Anticipating: Finishing my tattoo. I go this Friday. I can't wait to see what it looks like all done!!! I'm not looking forward to the pain again or the healing process, but it will all be worth it in the end :)
Listening to: Jack White's new album Blunderbuss. It's so good! You could stream it on itunes before it was out, but now it's available to purchase. Zac + I are going to see him play in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium("The Mother Church of Country Music"). I CAN'T wait!!! I'm so excited. I've heard it's such a cool place to see shows (you sit in pews!!!). I'll be listening to it on Spotify(i'm in LOVE with spotify by the way, haha) + then I'll get a vinyl at the show. YES!!!
Also, Birdy. I usually don't like covers, but her voice is just so good and I love all of the original songs too.
Drinking: Ginger ale with a splash of cranberry juice. SO. GOOD. Try it, I promise you won't be sorry ;)
Wishing: For our dream house :) We've been talking about buying a house for a little while now. It's exciting to look + imagine what you would want. Even if it might be just a dream.
What about you? What have you been up to lately? If you do your own "currently" post on your blog, link back in the comments!
*Thanks again to Danielle + Megan for the inspiration of these posts.
+ getting to try a Bánh mì finally (ever since the great food truck race I've wanted to try one)!!! The quinoa tabbouleh appetizer was DELICIOUS. I LOVE their decor + it is simply beautiful. Check out this pottery.
-Zac saying "You like how I put on my poker face and didn't act all excited?" when the waitress asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu, hahahaha :)
-My first ballet! Zac took me to see Cinderella. It was beautiful. I got chills twice, haha. I take pilates from Ballet Memphis, so I know a few of the dancers. It was really special to get to see them dance!
Lows:
-The full moon bringing out the crazies at work...I tell ya, it always happens + it always happens in multiples!
-Itchy, peeling, healing tattoo (I guess the healing is actually a good thing, haha) + having to do it all again in a few weeks.
I finally got the tattoo I've always wanted (well, I've had the idea for about 5 years)!!! I wasn't exactly sure about what I was getting myself into. I luckily couldn't remember the pain that is involved, but I was extremely nervous to say the least! I made myself sick the whole day. Zac even told me at one point if it makes you that sick why are you doing it?!?! I told him he should have seen me the day we had our first date, haha and look where that turned out. :) I was more excited than anything.
I had hoped I could get it done earlier so I wouldn't have to wait any longer, but to my horror we (Zac + I) had to wait another agonizing 30 minutes because he was doing another tattoo. Haha. I'm overdramatic aren't I?
I made Zac hold my hand for most of it :) He was also in charge of the picture taking. Such a sweetie :*
When he first started I thought OUCH, this hurts worse than I remembered!!! I have to sit here for an hour and a half of this? Some parts were worse than others, but it gets easier the longer you sit. I wished he had the time to knock it all out, but we just did all of the outlining + the lettering. I get to go back in 2 weeks to finish it. I can't wait to see it all finished. I'm already in love with it.
I found the phrase in this book when I was in college. It is translated as "Life in Rosy Hues" or "Life Through Rose-Colored Glasses"; the literal meaning is "Life in Pink". I love the color pink + most of my paintings all have that color in them. I had skin cancer in 2005 + ever since then I've tried to live my life like I may not have a tomorrow (to a certain degree). It may sound morbid, but it's not to me. I need a constant reminder to lighten up + enjoy life (that's one of the many reasons I fell in love with Zac, because he has such a positive outlook on things). I also wanted the tattoo to represent life + death.
Most of the imagery came from Audrey Kawasaki's paintings, with the exception of the flower. The flower (Scabiosa) came from this book + was in my wedding bouquet. I'm so happy with how David (we became friends while getting our BFAs at the U of M together) at Underground Art put it all together!!!
I'll do another post when it's all finished :)
*I can mark 24. Get another tattoo (the one I've always wanted) off my 28 before 29 list.
I made this yummy pasta for dinner the other night. It was super easy too (as long as you have a food processor)! I used this recipe. Zac gave me a food processor for my birthday last year + this was the first time I've used it. I LOVE it. I can't wait to learn how to make more things with it. It came with a dvd + small recipe book.
Do you have any favorite recipes using a food processor?
I hadn't been back since I got married there last year :) It was nice to be back + brought back so many sweet memories! I want to go back + have a picnic on our one year anniversary. Awe.
