I signed up for the 2012 Sketchbook Project. I signed up for it a few years ago but never filled the pages :( I'm going to finish it this year! I promise.
Once we got back home on Sunday I had the urge to plant violas (they were sweeter looking + more danty than the pansies). I decided on the ruby ones. By the time I got home, I was exhausted + wondering why I thought it would be fun a few hours ago. Haha. What else is new. I was proud when I finished though. I will enjoy them once it gets freezing + most of the other fall colors have gone.
I also decorated the front porch with all of our goodies from the trip to Diebold's Orchard. I got a new mat at the hardware store for my new last name :) I ♥ being married + my new last name. I have plans to paint the letter "O" on the white pumpkin with Martha Stewart's new glitter paint in Onyx (i am so excited ab her paints! pretty, pretty colors). Sweet Vera was watching me from inside...
I went into the attic + got out all of our Halloween decorations. I thought I might not decorate this year, but once I got the pumpkins I couldn't resist! I love this time of year.
The husband + I drove to Missouri this weekend to visit my sister + her family. In 2008 Lori (my sister), my mom + I went to this place called Diebold Orchards. It was full of fall goodies + I knew that if we visited them I wanted to go back. I remember all the varieties of pumpkins, yummy apple cider + mums in all colors. It did not disappoint...
(yes, we talked them into letting us get into their tractor...haha)
(my wagon full of goodies to take home)
Then we went to their farm for the night. We had fun visiting all the animals + taking more pictures. The weather was so beautiful + it was great to be outside in the country. We ended the night making smores by the outdoor fireplace. It was a perfect day.
I'll end this post with a sweet picture of their pretty baby girl.
Tonight we made caramel apples. Zac said he was so excited to see me bring home the caramel apple kit. He's never had one before. I was totally shocked :) haha. I can't imagine that. I have a huge sweet tooth. When I first met Zac he didn't eat sweets at all. I think I'm rubbing off on him...big time :) It's no fun eating sweets alone.
Then we took Vera for a walk + there was an eye around the moon. So gorgeous + spooky. I absolutely LOVE fall. It's the best time of the year :) Magical.
This month we sketched at the Sears Crosstown Tower. I've always thought the building was so interesting + it was really neat to be able to go inside. I was pretty excited about it. I wasn't really sure what to expect. We went to the third floor first. It was painted in one of my favorite colors- minty green. The smell was so interesting...I could smell it the rest of the day. There was dust + peeling paint everywhere.
I chose to sketch a section of the room that had some funky colors going on- minty green, yellow + red. I liked the combination.
Then we walked through dark hallways + stairs to the cafeteria. It was sorta spooky. We had an interesting playlist of music going on in the cafeteria thanks to some neighbors, haha.
I sketched an exit door + curtains with all kinds of mess on the ground.
And the ceiling of the kitchen (i think).
I think I may have had more fun taking pictures than sketching :)
